The Bixolon XD5-40d is a 4-inch (118 mm) direct thermal desktop label and barcode printer designed for mid-level labeling tasks across manufacturing, transport & logistics, retail and healthcare. The compact clamshell design houses a 203 dpi print engine (XD5-40d) with a maximum print speed of up to 178 mm/sec (7 ips), expanded memory (up to 256 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash) and support for media rolls up to 127 mm diameter. The printer supports multiple connectivity options and is compatible with common label programming languages and label design software.

Advantages

The XD5-40d includes Smart Media Detection™ for automatic recognition of gap, black mark, continuous or notch media formats, a USB host port for Twin Function™ duplication of settings and data, and optional field-installable accessories such as a peeler, auto cutter and external paper supply. How to use

Open the clamshell case to load the label roll and adjust the paper guide so the media aligns with the print head. Select the correct media type in the printer settings or allow Smart Media Detection™ to identify the media automatically. Connect the printer via USB, Ethernet or wireless interface and install the appropriate drivers or use the supported label design software such as Label Artist-II™ or BarTender®. Use the USB host Twin Function™ to copy settings to additional XD5 series printers if deploying multiple units.

Usage recommendations
