The Blackmagic Design ATEM SDI Full HD is a compact live production switcher that supports Full HD video resolutions including 720p, 1080i and 1080p. It offers four SDI inputs with standards conversion, two SDI outputs, a USB webcam output and Ethernet connectivity for control. The switcher includes an integrated Fairlight audio mixer with EQ and dynamics, a DVE for picture-in-picture, transition effects, a green screen chroma key and a media pool for up to 20 stills. Free ATEM Software Control is available for remote configuration and operation.
The unit provides quick setup and intuitive operation, with standards-converting SDI inputs that simplify mixing sources with different formats. Built-in Fairlight audio mixing and dynamics reduce the need for external audio hardware. The DVE and chroma key functions expand creative production options while the USB webcam and Ethernet interfaces enable easy streaming and remote control. Low power consumption and compact black chassis make it suitable for small studios and mobile setups.
Connect camera sources to the SDI inputs and monitors or recorders to the SDI outputs, then connect the unit to a computer via USB for webcam output or to a network via Ethernet for remote control. Use the ATEM Software Control on Windows or macOS to configure inputs, set up the Fairlight audio mixer, apply DVE effects and chroma keying, load stills into the media pool and control transitions. Power the switcher from an AC outlet.
For reliable operation, use SDI cables matched to your signal formats and ensure connected cameras are set to supported video modes. When streaming, verify network bandwidth for the selected resolution and use the ATEM Software Control for pre-configuring scenes and audio levels before live events.
