Telescope Bresser Optics Pluto 114/500 20x
The Bresser Optics Pluto 114/500 is a Newtonian reflector telescope with a 114 mm primary mirror and a short 500 mm focal length, designed to deliver good light-gathering ability in a compact form. The optical tube has a length of 465 mm and the telescope is supplied with an equatorial mount and a sturdy tripod. The instrument is supplied with Cartes du Ciel software to support planning and identification of celestial objects.
The 114 mm primary mirror provides increased light collection for clearer views of faint objects compared with smaller beginner scopes. The short focal length yields a wider field of view suitable for extended objects. The equatorial mount enables smooth tracking of celestial objects, while the split design (optical tube and mount) reduces transport size and simplifies storage. The aluminum construction keeps weight low and the included software aids in object location and planning.
Assemble the tripod and mount according to the supplied instructions, attach the optical tube and balance it on the equatorial mount. Insert the eyepiece to achieve the supplied magnification and align the finderscope on a distant daytime object to make initial alignment easier. For night observing, perform a polar-alignment of the equatorial mount to enable accurate tracking. Use the slow-motion controls on the mount to centre objects in the eyepiece and adjust focus until the image is sharp. Use the included Cartes du Ciel software on a laptop to plan observing sessions and identify targets.
For best results, allow the telescope to reach thermal equilibrium with the outside air before observing, use low- to medium-power eyepieces for deep-sky objects to benefit from the wide field, and ensure the equatorial mount is well polar-aligned when tracking planets or extended objects.
