Heat shrink tubing Cabletech LEC-NAR0254.1 2.5 mm diameter × 1 m, red
Cabletech heat shrink tubing LEC-NAR0254.1 is a 1 m long, red polyolefin sleeve with a nominal 2.5 mm diameter before shrinkage. It is intended for insulating and protecting electrical joints, wire ends and connector points in small wiring harnesses and DIY electronics. After heat application the tubing contracts to form a close-fitting, mechanically stable layer that provides electrical insulation and strain relief for repaired or newly-assembled cables.
The polyolefin material offers reliable electrical insulation and resistance to abrasion and mechanical wear once shrunk. The red color enables clear visual identification of protected sections and wiring polarity when used alongside other colored sleeves. The 1 m length provides flexibility for multiple repairs or for cutting to required sizes, and the small initial diameter is suitable for thin conductors and multi-core cable assemblies.
Cut the required length of tubing with scissors or a sharp blade, slide it over the wire or joint before making the connection, then apply heat evenly using a heat gun, lighter or hot-air tool until the tubing contracts and conforms to the underlying shape. Allow the tubing to cool to room temperature before handling to ensure proper adhesion and mechanical stability. For best results position the tubing so that it fully covers the joint and a small portion of the adjacent insulation on both sides.
Use a regulated heat source such as a heat gun set to an appropriate temperature to avoid overheating the wire insulation or nearby components. When color coding, combine this red tubing with other colors to create a consistent marking system. For installations in higher-temperature environments or where additional mechanical protection is required, consider using thicker-walled or adhesive-lined heat shrink variants designed for those conditions.
