Celestron Luminos 2-inch 2.5x Barlow Eyepiece Lens for Telescope Black Blue Orange Width 70 mm Height 111 mm Weight 362 g

The Celestron Luminos 2-inch 2.5x Barlow Eyepiece Lens is a versatile optical accessory designed to enhance your telescope observing experience. Featuring a robust construction with a width of 70 mm, a depth of 70 mm, a height of 111 mm, a diameter of 6.4 cm, and a weight of 362 g, this lens is built for durability and precision. Finished in a combination of black, blue, and orange, it integrates seamlessly into your existing equipment setup while offering significant magnification improvements for detailed astronomical viewing.

Advantages

This Barlow lens utilizes high-quality 4-element apochromatic optics that are fully multi-coated to ensure optimum light transmission, high contrast, and true color images without extraneous color distortion. The hard-anodized aluminum barrel provides reliable physical protection and is threaded to accept 2-inch filters, allowing filter changes without repeatedly removing and reattaching them. Additionally, the inclusion of a brass compression ring and oversized thumbscrews ensures that eyepieces are held firmly in place while preventing scratches on the barrels. A matching 2-inch to 1.25-inch adapter further expands its compatibility with a wide variety of eyepieces.

Suitable for

• Increasing the magnification of 2-inch telescope eyepieces by 2.5 times
• Increasing the magnification of 1.25-inch telescope eyepieces using the included adapter
• Achieving high-contrast and sharp planetary or lunar observations
• Observing sessions requiring quick and secure eyepiece swaps with gloves on

When it may not be suitable

This accessory may not be suitable for telescope setups that already operate near or beyond their maximum useful magnification limits, as adding a 2.5x multiplier can result in dim and blurry images. It may also add unwanted front-end weight to smaller, highly compact telescope mounts that require strict payload balancing.

Key specifications

• Magnification factor: 2.5x
• Barrel size compatibility: 2-inch and 1.25-inch via adapter
• Optical design: 4-element fully multi-coated
• Dimensions: 70 mm width, 70 mm depth, 111 mm height, 6.4 cm diameter
• Weight: 362 g
• Color: Black, blue, and orange
• Filter compatibility: Threaded for 2-inch filters

How to use

To use the lens, insert the 2-inch barrel of the Celestron Luminos Barlow directly into the telescope focuser and secure it in place. Loosen the oversized thumbscrew on top of the Barlow to open the brass compression ring. Insert your desired 2-inch eyepiece into the Barlow lens barrel and tighten the thumbscrew gently until the eyepiece is held securely. If you are using a 1.25-inch eyepiece, first insert the included 2-inch to 1.25-inch adapter into the Barlow, then secure the smaller eyepiece inside the adapter. Ensure all connections are stable before beginning your observation.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that your telescope focuser accommodates 2-inch accessories
• Calculate your telescope focal length and existing eyepiece specifications to ensure the 2.5x magnification remains within your optical limits
• Check the physical weight capacity of your telescope mount to ensure the 362 g accessory will not cause balance issues
• Confirm compatibility with your current collection of 2-inch and 1.25-inch eyepieces

Usage recommendations: Store the Barlow lens in a dry environment with dust caps securely attached to protect the multi-coated optics. Clean the optical surfaces only with specialized optical cleaning tools to maintain performance during astronomical observations.
