The Citizen CL-S700 label printer is a sturdy desktop printer offering direct thermal and thermal transfer printing with a maximum resolution of 203 dpi and a top speed of 254 mm/sec. Designed for ease of use, the CL-S700 series features a compact footprint and a metal Hi-Open case that opens vertically so the printer footprint remains unchanged when the cover is opened. The model range includes a direct-thermal-only variant for courier and logistics use and a higher-resolution 300 dpi option available on the CL-S703 or as an upgrade.

Advantages

The CL-S700 combines a durable metal Hi-Open case with a soft-close top cover for safe and convenient media access. It provides easy ribbon loading with a Hi-Lift mechanism that opens to 90° and supports ribbons up to 450 metres with ARCP ribbon control. R models include a front-loading rewinder that simplifies backing paper rewind in peel mode or batch printing. The printer supports Datamax and Zebra emulations with automatic detection (CrosEmulation) and includes a front-mounted power switch and a large graphic LCD for straightforward status indication and configuration. Standard interfaces on most models include parallel, serial and USB, with optional Ethernet and Wi‑Fi on selected configurations.

How to use

Open the Hi-Open metal cover vertically to load media; the printer footprint remains unchanged when the cover is open. For thermal transfer models, lift the Hi-Lift ribbon mechanism to 90° to insert the ribbon (inside or outside wound) and secure it using the ARCP ribbon control. For models with a front-loading rewinder (R models), drop the front of the printer to thread the backing paper for peel-mode printing or rewind batches. Connect via USB, serial or parallel, or add optional Ethernet/Wi‑Fi where available. Use the front-mounted power switch and the graphic LCD to configure settings and monitor printer status. For emulation compatibility, the CrosEmulation feature will detect and switch between Datamax and Zebra languages automatically.

Use the direct thermal CL-S700DT for short-life courier and logistics labels to avoid ribbon costs; choose thermal transfer for durable labels and longer-lasting prints. When printing large batches, use the front-loading rewinder on R models and install ribbons up to 450 metres to reduce media changes.
