Handlebar Star Nut Clarks CLARK'S for 1" Steering Tube (CLA-CHSN1-1PB)
Clarks CLARK'S star nut for 1" (25.4 mm) steering tubes is an internal headset anchor designed to provide a secure threaded point inside the steerer. It is intended for use where a star nut system is compatible with the fork steerer and top-cap preload arrangement, allowing accurate adjustment of headset bearing preload on threadless or compatible quill-style stem assemblies.
This star nut offers a reliable thread for the top-cap preload bolt, enabling precise headset tensioning and simple maintenance. Manufactured to fit 1" (25.4 mm) steerers, it is compact and unobtrusive once installed inside the steerer tube, maintaining the clean external appearance of the bicycle. The internal placement reduces exposure to external elements and helps preserve headset adjustment over time.
Insert the star nut into the steerer tube to the recommended depth, using an appropriate driver or installation tool to ensure correct alignment and seating. Once seated, fit the top-cap preload bolt through the stem and compress the headset to achieve the desired bearing preload. After preload is set, tighten the stem clamp bolts to secure stem position and recheck headset play and steering smoothness. Follow standard bicycle assembly torque specifications and procedures during installation and adjustment.
Confirm that the fork steerer material and wall thickness are suitable for a star nut installation; do not use a star nut in tapered or carbon steerers unless explicitly specified by the fork manufacturer. Use the correct installation tool for consistent seating, and inspect the anchor point during routine maintenance to ensure headset adjustment remains secure.
