Desktop memory module CRUCIAL CT102464BD160B — 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz 240-pin DIMM, CL11, 1.35V
Crucial 8GB PC3-12800 is a 240-pin DIMM DDR3 memory module designed for desktop computers. It provides 8 GB of internal memory in a single 1 x 8 GB module, operates at DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) with CAS latency 11 and uses a 240-pin DIMM form factor. The module requires a motherboard with 240-pin DIMM slots and a DDR3-capable chipset; DDR3 modules are not compatible with DDR2 or DDR sockets.
This 240-pin DIMM offers a 64-bit data path in standard single-rank configurations and supports DDR3 transfer rates for improved data throughput compared with earlier memory generations. The Crucial module follows standard physical dimensions for 240-pin DDR3 DIMMs and uses gold contacts for reliable socket connections. Operating at 1600 MHz with 1.35 V, it balances performance and energy use for typical desktop applications.
Power off the desktop PC and disconnect it from the mains. Open the case according to the manufacturer's instructions, locate the 240-pin DIMM slots on the motherboard, and ensure the board supports DDR3 memory. Align the notch on the Crucial 240-pin DIMM with the slot key, insert the module into the slot at a slight angle, and press evenly until the retention clips secure it. Reassemble the case, reconnect power, and verify the new memory is detected in BIOS/UEFI or the operating system.
Install modules in matched pairs or according to the motherboard manual to enable dual-channel operation when applicable; check the motherboard manual for supported configurations, maximum memory capacity, and compatible clock speeds before upgrading.
