Connector DATACOM 4220 2 x RJ45 STP Cat5E Silver, shielded modular coupler
DATACOM 4220 is a shielded (STP) modular coupler with two RJ45 Cat5E female ports in a silver finish that connects two Ethernet cables directly to extend or reconfigure network runs without rewiring. The coupler preserves shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference and is suitable for Cat5E networks and common 100 Mbps Ethernet applications in offices, server rooms and home networks.
The shielded construction maintains cable continuity and reduces interference between cables and nearby equipment. The modular female-to-female RJ45 design enables quick, tool-free joining of two terminated cables. Compact plastic body with metal shielding provides a lightweight solution while keeping signal integrity for typical Cat5E installations.
Insert each terminated RJ45 plug (8P8C) into the female ports of the coupler until they click into place, ensuring proper alignment of the plug latch. Verify that shielding (if present on the cable plug) makes contact with the coupler's metal shell to maintain STP continuity. After connection, test the link with network tools or by checking network connectivity on attached devices.
Use this shielded coupler with Cat5E shielded cables and properly terminated RJ45 connectors to preserve shielding effectiveness; avoid using it in long permanent runs where a single continuous cable or a patch panel solution would be preferable.
