DATACOM 4230 UTP connection box is a compact, surface-mounted Cat.5e inline coupler with two termination points. It provides two LSA-style insulation displacement contact (IDC) fields for splicing or extending UTP Ethernet cables while maintaining minimal signal attenuation. The enclosure keeps terminations protected and helps organize twisted-pair cabling in small office, residential or network extension installations.
The device offers two RJ45 termination ports via LSA (IDC) blocks, straightforward 1:1 pin mapping (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8) and compact dimensions (26 × 66 × 36 mm) for unobtrusive mounting. Its design ensures reliable electrical contact with minimal transmission loss and simplifies cable management and protection of terminations.
Prepare both UTP cable ends by stripping the outer jacket to expose the twisted pairs. Insert each conductor into the corresponding position on the LSA/IDC field following the 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 mapping, then terminate using an appropriate LSA punch-down tool to ensure secure contact. Close the enclosure if applicable and mount the box in the desired location. Verify network connectivity and signal integrity after termination.
Use a proper LSA/IDC punch-down tool and follow standard Cat.5e wiring practices (untwist pairs minimally, maintain correct pair order) to minimize signal loss. Install in a dry, protected environment and test the link with a cable tester after installation.
