DATACOM 4242 is a compact plastic panel connector with STP shielding that provides two RJ45 (8p8c) female Cat5e ports for connecting network cables. It is intended for installation into an unpopulated panel or wall box and supports Cat5e performance up to 100 MHz for standard Ethernet data and voice transmission. The connector is finished in silver and offers straight (inline) coupling between two RJ45 cables.
The panel connector features STP shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure stable signal transmission. It provides direct female-to-female RJ45 coupling for easy extension or repair of existing cable runs without the need for additional adapters. The molded plastic body is lightweight and suitable for mounting into unpopulated panels or sockets, while Cat5e compliance ensures compatibility with common Ethernet equipment.
Insert the DATACOM 4242 into an appropriate unpopulated panel or wall box opening and secure it according to the panel or box mounting method. Connect each RJ45 (8p8c) cable end into the female ports until they click into place. The connector provides a straight-through 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 pin mapping for standard Ethernet wiring. Verify shield continuity where required by ensuring proper metal contact between the connector and the panel or grounding point.
Use with Cat5e shielded cables and ensure proper grounding of the panel to maintain STP effectiveness. Avoid excessive bending or mechanical strain on connected cables to preserve signal integrity.
