Description

The Datalogic Magellan 1500i is a fixed presentation scanner designed for retail point of sale, pharmacy counters and customer service environments. It reads 1D and 2D barcodes from printed labels and mobile devices, including Digimarc® watermarked barcodes. The scanner combines a compact enclosure with a high-performance megapixel sensor and custom optics to provide a large reading area and reliable decoding.

Advantages

The Magellan 1500i offers a wide reading area with reach up to approximately 25 cm and fast 1D sweep capability, enabling quick capture of standard, truncated or partially damaged codes. Consistent, comfortable illumination reduces reflections and flicker, improving operator comfort. Motionix™ motion sensing switches the unit to handheld mode when lifted, enabling an LED aimer and on-code green-good confirmation, while returning automatically to presentation mode when placed back on the counter. Available in a compact white housing with multiple mounting options, the scanner fits into various point-of-sale and service setups.

How to use

Place the Magellan 1500i on the checkout counter in presentation mode and align the barcode within the scanner’s read area. For handheld scanning, lift the unit and the Motionix™ sensor will enable the LED aimer; aim at the code and present it to the reader until the green-good confirmation is shown. The scanner reads barcodes from both printed labels and mobile device screens without special settings. Connect the device to a host system via the USB interface for power and data communication.

Usage recommendations

Position the scanner at a comfortable angle on the counter to make the large read zone easily accessible to cashiers and customers; keep the scan window clean and avoid direct bright light on the optics to maintain reliable read performance.
