Heating cable DEVI ICE self-regulating anti-icing cable 30 W/m 480 W 16 m

DEVI ICE self-regulating heating cable delivers 30 W/m (total 480 W) in a 16 m length, designed for anti-icing and frost protection on roofs, gutters, downpipes and exposed outdoor piping. The cable increases heat output when ambient temperature falls and reduces output as temperature rises, providing adaptive freeze protection that reduces energy use compared with fixed-output systems. Constructed for outdoor use, the DEVI ICE cable is intended to prevent ice dams, blockages and freezing that can damage roofing and drainage systems.

Advantages

The self-regulating technology ensures the cable varies heat output along its length and with changing temperatures, preventing overheating and lowering operational energy consumption. A robust outer jacket and materials rated for outdoor installations provide mechanical protection and weather resistance suitable for roof and pipe applications. The cable is available in a single continuous 16 m length with 480 W total capacity, enabling straightforward installation for small roof areas, gutters and downpipes without the need for complex controls.

Suitable for

• Roof gutters and eaves to prevent ice dams
• Downpipes and vertical drains to maintain water flow
• Outdoor pipes and exposed plumbing susceptible to freezing
• Small roof sections and localized areas where ice build-up occurs

When it may not be suitable

This 16 m, 480 W cable is designed for localized anti-icing and frost protection and may not be adequate for large roof surfaces or extended pipe networks that require higher total heating capacity or distributed cable runs. For complex installations that need temperature control, multiple zones, or integration with building automation, additional controllers, sensing devices or a different system design may be required.

Key specifications

• Heating output: 30 W per metre (variable with temperature)
• Total installed power: 480 W
• Length: 16 metres
• Function: Self-regulating anti-icing / frost protection
• Intended use: Outdoor roof gutters, downpipes, exposed pipes

How to use

Install the DEVI ICE cable along gutters, in downpipes or along exposed pipe runs following the manufacturer’s spacing and fastening recommendations. Connect the cable to a suitably rated power supply and ensure electrical connections and any required end seals are made according to local electrical codes and the manufacturer’s instructions. The self-regulating cable does not require a separate thermostat to modulate output, but using a control device or sensor can optimize energy use and meet site-specific requirements.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm the 16 m length and 480 W capacity meet the area or pipe length you need to protect
• Verify that outdoor mounting, attachment points and roof drainage layout are suitable for cable routing
• Check local electrical supply, circuit capacity and protection requirements for a 480 W heating load
• Consider whether additional sensors or controllers are needed for zone control or automated operation

Usage recommendations

Position the cable where water flow is critical: along the lower edge of gutters and inside downpipes, securing it at recommended intervals and avoiding sharp bends. Ensure all electrical terminations are weatherproof and inspected by a qualified electrician. For best energy efficiency, combine self-regulating cable use with proper roof insulation and drainage maintenance.
