SSD enclosure Digitus DA-71118 2.5" SATA HDD M.2 mSATA
SSD enclosure Digitus DA-71118 2.5" SATA HDD M.2 mSATA
The Digitus DA-71118 is a 2.5" SATA HDD enclosure that lets you install an M.2 or mSATA SSD in a PC or notebook and use it like a standard 2.5" SATA drive. The aluminium housing has a low installation height of 7 mm, supports SATA III (6 Gbit/s) and allows booting from the installed SSD. Supported drives include M.2 (NGFF) sizes 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 with B-Key or B+M-Key, and full-size mSATA (Mini PCIe 52 PIN). M.2 NVMe SSDs with M-Key are not supported.
The aluminium enclosure provides physical protection and a compact 7 mm profile suitable for most notebooks and desktop bays. The SATA III interface enables up to 6 Gbit/s transfer and reading speeds up to approximately 520 MB/s depending on the SSD. The adapter supports standard operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) and offers a DIP switch to select the internal SSD for booting. DEVSLP power-saving mode is supported through SATA Rev.3.2.
Open the enclosure, install the compatible M.2 or mSATA SSD into the corresponding connector and secure it according to the included mounting points. Set the DIP switch to select the internal SSD when required for booting. Connect the enclosure to the motherboard using the internal SATA and power cables as you would with a standard 2.5" drive, then close the housing and mount it in the drive bay. The system BIOS/UEFI should detect the drive and allow installation or booting of an operating system.
Use only supported M.2 B-Key or B+M-Key SSDs (2230–2280) or full-size mSATA drives; do not insert M-Key NVMe SSDs. Verify BIOS/UEFI boot order after installation and ensure the SSD is compatible with SATA operation. Handle the aluminium housing and SSD on an anti-static surface to avoid electrostatic damage.
