Industrial USB over Cat6 Extender Tripp Lite B203-101-IND-ER — 1‑port, USB 2.0, PoC, ESD protection, metal housing, mountable, 100 m
Tripp Lite B203-101-IND-ER is an industrial USB over Cat6 extender kit that extends a USB 2.0 connection up to 100 m (330 ft) using Cat6 cabling. The kit includes a metal transmitter (local) and receiver (remote) with mountable housings designed for harsh environments. It supports USB 2.0 data rates up to 300 Mbps, Power over Cable (PoC) to supply the transmitter from the receiver over a single Cat6 run, and ESD protection to help safeguard connected peripherals. The units are compact, plug-and-play, and rated for 100–240 V AC (50–60 Hz) operation with options for external DC power when required.
The extender provides extended reach beyond standard USB limits, enabling placement of computers and USB devices up to 100 m apart without network infrastructure. Built-in PoC eliminates the need for a local power brick at one end, simplifying installation and cable management. Robust metal housings and ESD protection to ±15 kV increase reliability in industrial and commercial settings, and the kit’s plug-and-play design requires no software installation. LEDs on both units indicate power and data status to simplify commissioning and troubleshooting.
Connect the transmitter unit to a host computer using a standard USB-A cable and connect the receiver to the USB peripheral device with a suitable USB cable. Link the two units with a user-supplied Cat6 cable up to 100 m in length. If the receiver does not supply sufficient power for a high-demand USB device, connect the included external power supply or use the RS-232 Phoenix connector for an external DC source within the supported voltage range. Power on the units and confirm LED indicators for power and data activity before use. No driver installation is required for standard operating systems.
For reliable performance, use high-quality Cat6 cabling and avoid running the cable alongside high-voltage power lines. If connecting power-hungry devices (high-density hard drives or devices that draw significant USB power), provide external DC power at the receiver or use the RS-232 Phoenix connector to ensure stable operation. Ensure both units are securely mounted and that ESD-sensitive devices are handled per site safety procedures.
