Card Printer Evolis Primacy 2 Duplex USB Ethernet 300dpi, 300 dpi, Duplex, USB, Ethernet

The Evolis Primacy 2 Duplex is a professional card printer with 300 dpi (12 dots/mm) resolution that supports duplex (double-sided) printing. It uses thermal transfer (dye-sublimation) technology to produce full-colour and monochrome cards and connects via USB or Ethernet. The printer is designed for issuing ID cards, access badges, membership and loyalty cards in offices, events and institutions.

Advantages

The Primacy 2 Duplex delivers high-resolution printing at 300 dpi, enabling sharp photo and text reproduction. Its duplex capability supports two-sided card personalisation in one pass, improving workflow efficiency. Connectivity via USB and Ethernet allows flexible installation in single-user and networked environments. The printer accepts card input hoppers up to 100 cards and offers a maximum throughput suitable for medium-volume issuance.

Suitable for

• Issuing employee ID and access control badges
• Membership and loyalty cards for clubs and retailers
• Event badges and visitor passes
• Small to medium-volume card personalization in offices and institutions

When it may not be suitable

This printer is not intended for very high-volume industrial production where thousands of cards per day are required; its maximum speed (up to 170 cards/hour) and 100-card feeder limit suit small-to-medium runs. It also requires ribbon consumables (including colour and monochrome ribbons) and plain PVC cards for dye-sublimation printing, so it may be less suitable if you need instant single-card issuance without stock of supplies.

Key specifications

• Printing technology: thermal transfer (dye-sublimation)
• Resolution: 300 dpi (12 dots/mm)
• Duplex printing: yes (double-sided)
• Maximum speed: up to 170 cards per hour (single-sided, colour may vary)
• Card feeder capacity: up to 100 cards
• Interfaces: USB and Ethernet
• Indicators: LED status indicators
• Included consumables/accessories: starter ribbon (colour example: red), cable (USB), power supply unit and power cable

How to use

Install the printer on a stable surface and connect it to a PC or network using the provided USB cable or Ethernet connection. Load blank PVC cards into the input hopper (up to 100 cards) and insert the correct ribbon cartridge for the desired print mode (colour or monochrome). Use provided or compatible card design software (for example CardPresso XS) to create card layouts, then send the print job. Monitor the LED indicators for status and replace ribbons or cards when prompted.

What to consider before purchase

• Plan for consumables: colour or monochrome ribbons and PVC cards are required
• Confirm space and network connectivity for USB or Ethernet installation
• Assess expected monthly card volume to ensure throughput and feeder capacity are sufficient
• Check compatibility with your card design and database software

Usage recommendations

For consistent print quality, use genuine ribbons and PVC cards recommended by the manufacturer, keep the printer’s cleaning kit and follow scheduled cleaning routines. Use Ethernet for multi-user environments and USB for a dedicated workstation. Store ribbons and cards in a dry environment to avoid print defects.
