Interface Card EXSYS EX-44062
The EXSYS EX-44062 PCI-Express I/O adapter adds two RS-232 serial ports to a PC, thin client or server using the PCI-Express bus. Built around 16C1050-type UART-compatible controllers with on-board FIFO buffering, the card supports standard serial signal lines and provides optional +5V or +12V on pin 9 for POS devices. The low-profile design includes two low-profile brackets for small computer cases and is fully PCIe Plug-and-Play compatible to avoid manual IRQ or I/O address configuration.
The adapter supports two high-performance RS-232 ports with 16C1050 FIFO buffering (256 bytes) and hardware or software flow control (RTS/CTS and XON/XOFF). It is PCIe 1.0a–3.0 compliant and allows BIOS-managed IRQ sharing, eliminating IRQ and I/O address conflicts. The card offers ESD protection on the RS-232 lines and a durable black stainless-steel low-profile form factor suitable for compact systems.
Install the EX-44062 into an available PCI-Express x1 (or larger) slot on the motherboard, secure the low-profile bracket appropriate for your case, and power on the system. The card is PCIe Plug-and-Play compatible, so the operating system should detect and assign resources automatically; use the system BIOS to manage IRQ settings if needed. Connect serial devices to the DB9 male connectors and configure port parameters (baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity, and flow control) in your operating system or application.
For POS applications requiring power from pin 9, verify the connected device supports +5V or +12V on that pin and ensure cabling and connectors are rated for serial power. Use hardware flow control for reliable high-throughput serial communication and enable ESD protection practices when connecting or disconnecting devices.
