Description

The Fischer TherMax stand-off insulation fixing is a kit for mounting light fixtures and accessories into external walls with ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems) without creating a thermal bridge. The kit uses a stud screw with a glass-fibre reinforced plastic cone that cuts through the plaster into the insulation and is secured in the base material by rotating into the universal UX plug. An insulating cone at the tip forms a thermal barrier and holds the external fixing. The TherMax system is suitable for attaching lights, letterboxes and lightning conductors to concrete, aerated concrete and masonry including solid and perforated brick.

Advantages

The stand-off design lets the fixture be positioned precisely while avoiding pressure marks and damage to the ETICS. The plastic insulating cone reduces thermal bridging and provides an energy-optimised fixing. The glass-fibre reinforced cone creates a positive-fit connection through the ETICS, enabling straightforward installation without special tools. When combined with the universal UX plug the system achieves secure anchoring in the substrate. Direct mounting into wooden substrates is possible after pre-drilling if the UX plug is not used.

How to use

Drill the recommended hole through the ETICS and into the base material to the specified depth. Insert the UX universal plug into the hole, position the TherMax stud screw so the insulating cone sits correctly against the external layer, and rotate the screw into the plug until it is secured in the substrate. Adjust the stand-off length and the fixture position as required before fully tightening. For direct mounting into wood, pre-drill and use the stud screw without the UX plug.

Usage recommendations

Use the Fischer TherMax fixings only for light loads as specified; verify substrate condition and compliance with local regulations for ETICS installations. Use the recommended drill diameter and embedment depth for secure anchoring, and avoid over-tightening which could damage the insulation layer.
