Description

The fischer FID II insulation plug is designed for fastening lightweight attachments to external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) and for use in plasterboard applications. Made from glass fibre reinforced plastic and compatible with standard screws of 3.5–4.5 mm, the plug provides stable anchoring while keeping the plug head minimally visible. Its tip geometry allows screwing through plaster up to 10 mm without pre-drilling in many cases, and installation is performed easily with a standard TX40 bit.

Advantages

Glass fibre reinforced plastic construction gives the plug high stability. The small head diameter and underhead milling pockets result in a concealed, surface-flush finish even with narrow attachments. The special tip combines centering, milling and cutting actions so the anchor can be driven in precisely and, for moderate plaster thicknesses, without pre-drilling. It accepts standard screws (3.5–4.5 mm) for flexible use and can be set with a common TX40 bit. The fischer insulation plug is suitable for a range of common insulation materials.

How to use

Place the FID II into the ETICS or plasterboard surface and drive it in with a cordless screwdriver using a standard TX40 bit. For thicker plaster layers (up to and beyond 10 mm) pre-drilling is recommended to ensure correct seating. The special tip centres and mills the material as it is driven, allowing accurate placement. After positioning the anchor, insert a suitable screw (3.5–4.5 mm diameter) to fix the attachment.

Usage recommendations

For best results, verify the plaster thickness before installation and pre-drill when plaster is thick or unusually hard. Use screws within the recommended diameter range and a TX40 bit for setting. Seal the anchor area if required for additional protection against moisture.
