Ski/Snowboard Goggles GIRO ARTICLE II Stone Rails with VIVID Carl Zeiss PINK S2 and INFRARED S1 interchangeable lenses

The GIRO ARTICLE II Stone Rails are women's ski and snowboard goggles supplied with two VIVID Carl Zeiss mirrored lenses: a PINK lens with variable visible light transmission (approximately 19–42% VLT, category S2) and an INFRARED lens with around 50% VLT (category S1). Designed for on-mountain use, these goggles provide interchangeable optics to adapt quickly between lower-light and brighter conditions. The frame shape and strap are engineered for compatibility with most helmets and to maintain a comfortable fit during active winter sports.

Advantages

These goggles combine Carl Zeiss VIVID optics that enhance contrast and definition on snow with a dual-lens system to expand usable light conditions without changing goggles. The mirrored coatings reduce glare and reflections, while the helmet-compatible frame and pliable seals aim to deliver an even fit and reliable eye protection. Interchangeable lenses allow fast swaps on the slope, supporting clear vision whether you encounter flat light or sunny runs.

Suitable for

• Alpine skiing on groomed runs and variable light
• Snowboarding in resort and park environments
• Women seeking a helmet-compatible goggle with interchangeable lenses
• Riders who need enhanced contrast and reduced glare in mixed conditions

When it may not be suitable

These goggles are focused on recreational and resort use; they may not be ideal for specialized high-altitude mountaineering or backcountry expeditions where additional avalanche-specific accessories or extreme cold-rated ventilation are required. If you need tinted lenses outside the stated VLT ranges (very dark sun or very low-light night riding), these two supplied lenses could be limiting without purchasing additional optics.

Key specifications

• Lens system: Two interchangeable mirrored lenses (VIVID Carl Zeiss)
• Lens types and light transmission: PINK mirrored lens ~19–42% VLT (S2); INFRARED mirrored lens ~50% VLT (S1)
• Optical features: Contrast-enhancing VIVID tuning, anti-glare mirrored coatings
• Fit: Women's-specific frame shape with helmet compatibility
• Frame features: Flexible frame with sealed foam for comfort and wind protection

How to use

Choose the lens that matches current light conditions: use the INFRARED S1 lens around 50% VLT in lower light or overcast conditions to maintain visibility, and switch to the PINK S2 lens (19–42% VLT) for brighter, variable light where contrast enhancement is helpful. To change lenses, follow the manufacturer's lens-swap procedure: secure the strap, gently flex the frame where indicated, release the lens rims, and remove the lens from the frame before inserting the replacement. Ensure lenses and frame are clean and dry before swapping to avoid scratches or trapping moisture. Adjust the strap for a snug fit with the helmet and position the foam against the face for a comfortable seal.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm compatibility with your helmet shape and strap width
• Consider whether the supplied VLT ranges meet the typical light conditions where you ride
• Check if you require additional lenses or photochromic options beyond the two included
• Review care requirements for mirrored VIVID lenses to avoid coating damage

Usage recommendations

Store lenses separately in a soft pouch when not in use, clean with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaner to preserve coatings, and swap lenses in dry, calm conditions to reduce the risk of scratch or fogging. For best optical performance, pair the goggles with a helmet that maintains a small gap to promote ventilation without exposing eyes to wind.
