The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2(D) network video recorder is an 8-channel NVR in a 1U rack form factor designed for IP camera systems. It supports up to 3840 × 2160 resolution output, simultaneous HDMI and VGA video outputs (HDMI up to 4K), and offers H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264 video compression to reduce storage needs. The unit provides up to two SATA drives (each up to 10 TB) for local storage, synchronous playback of multiple channels, and a 1 Gbps Ethernet interface for network connectivity.
The recorder includes smart features such as Motion Detection 2.0, facial recognition (1-channel for stream or 4-channel for face pictures), smart search within a selected video area and smart playback to speed up review. H.265+ compression can reduce storage use by up to 75%, and TLS stream encryption improves transmission security. It supports up to 8 IP camera inputs and an incoming bandwidth up to 80 Mbps, with decoding capacity suitable for high-resolution streams.
Install the NVR in a 1U rack space or place it on a stable surface. Connect IP cameras to the network and ensure they are on the same LAN as the recorder. Install up to two SATA hard drives for local recording and format them in the recorder’s storage menu. Use the HDMI or VGA output to connect a monitor and perform initial configuration via the on-screen interface or the web client, where you can add cameras, set recording schedules, enable Motion Detection 2.0, configure facial recognition channels, and set network parameters including Hik-Connect for remote access.
For reliable recording and playback, use enterprise or surveillance-grade SATA HDDs, keep firmware updated, and allocate sufficient incoming bandwidth per camera stream. Enable TLS encryption when configuring remote access and use Hik-Connect or secure network settings to manage devices through the LAN or internet.
