Network Switch Hikvision DS-KAD606 Power over Ethernet
The Hikvision DS-KAD606 Power over Ethernet network switch is a Fast Ethernet switch with eight RJ-45 ports, designed to deliver data and power over structured cabling for small to medium IP network deployments. It integrates a built-in 24 VDC voltage-stabilized switching-mode power supply and supports six 10/100 Mbps PoE-capable ports plus two 10/100 Mbps cascading ports, offering compact wired connectivity with IEEE 802.3 standards compatibility and a MAC address table capable of storing up to 8000 entries.
This switch supports Power over Ethernet on six adaptive LAN interfaces, simplifying installations by supplying power and data on a single cable. Its storing-and-forwarding mechanism and full-duplex communication ensure reliable packet forwarding and reduced collisions. Compliance with IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3u and IEEE802.3x standards ensures interoperability with common network equipment. The internal, voltage-stabilized 24 VDC power module provides steady output for connected devices, and the compact design allows optional wall mounting where space is limited.
Install the DS-KAD606 on a stable surface or mount it to a wall using appropriate screws and anchors. Connect the AC power cable to the internal power module (note: the AC cable is not included) and ensure the switch receives mains power. Use standard Ethernet cables to connect PoE-enabled devices to any of the six PoE-capable LAN ports and use the cascading ports to link to upstream switches or routers. Allow the switch to complete its power-up sequence before attaching sensitive devices. Monitor link/activity LEDs to confirm proper connection and traffic flow.
Use CAT5e or better twisted-pair cables for PoE and Fast Ethernet links, keep cable runs within recommended length limits, and verify the total power budget relative to connected PoE devices. Place the switch in a ventilated location away from direct heat sources. If wall mounting, secure the unit to a non-vibrating surface and ensure safe routing of the AC power cable (not supplied) in compliance with local electrical codes.
