Internal interface card HP 1VD82AA with PS/2 and serial ports, 80×48×24 mm
HP 1VD82AA is an internal interface card that adds a PS/2 connector and a serial RS-232 port to compatible HP business desktops and workstations. The compact module (80×48×24 mm) is designed for installation into systems where onboard legacy ports are missing or limited, enabling connection of older keyboards, mice and serial devices without requiring external adapters. It is intended for integration with supported HP 800/600/400 G3 Series systems using an available internal expansion slot.
The card provides a space-saving internal solution for restoring legacy peripheral connectivity while preserving external I/O panel space. By offering both a PS/2 connector and a standard RS-232 serial port in a single module, it reduces the need for multiple adapters and simplifies internal cable routing. Its small footprint and OEM compatibility ensure straightforward installation and reliable connection for legacy input devices and serial equipment used in business environments.
Power down the system and disconnect it from mains power before installation. Open the chassis according to the manufacturer service instructions, locate a suitable internal expansion connector or bracket area for the module, and secure the card in place following HP’s installation guidelines. Connect the internal cable(s) from the module to the system board or designated header, reassemble the chassis, and power on the computer. Install any required drivers or enable the ports in system firmware/BIOS if necessary, then connect PS/2 or RS-232 peripherals to the external connectors.
For reliable operation, use properly shielded serial cables and PS/2 peripherals intended for desktop use. If serial communication issues occur, verify baud rate, parity and handshake settings on both the host and the device. Follow static-discharge precautions during installation and consult the system maintenance manual for model-specific mounting instructions.
