Product information

Description

The HP DesignJet T1600 PS Managed Large Format Printer 36-inch Colour is a professional-grade printing solution engineered for demanding business environments, technical offices, and creative agencies. Offering a maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI, this 36-inch colour plotter delivers exceptionally sharp lines, accurate details, and vibrant graphics for all your large format needs. Utilizing an advanced 6-cartridge ink system featuring Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Matte Black, and Grey, it ensures smooth tonal transitions and precise colour reproduction. Built to handle heavy workloads, it supports standard page description languages including PostScript 3, PDF 1.7, and HP-GL/2, providing seamless integration into existing professional workflows. From architectural blueprints to high-impact marketing materials, this device brings reliability and efficiency to any professional workspace.

Advantages

This large format printer stands out for its high-speed output and exceptional precision, making it an indispensable asset for teams that rely on accurate technical drawings and rich graphic presentations. The inclusion of PostScript 3 and multiple page description languages ensures flawless processing of complex files without bottlenecks. Its 6-cartridge ink setup optimizes ink usage while delivering professional-grade colour accuracy and deep monochrome tones. Furthermore, built-in mobile printing support via HP ePrint allows users to send jobs directly from their mobile devices, streamlining daily operations and enhancing productivity across the entire office.

Suitable for

  • Printing architectural blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics up to A0 size
  • Producing high-quality graphic designs, posters, and marketing displays on glossy, matte, or satin paper
  • Handling heavy daily workloads in business environments and corporate offices
  • Executing remote print jobs using mobile printing technologies

When it may not be suitable

This 36-inch large format printer may not be ideal for home users or small offices with very limited space, as its physical footprint requires a dedicated area. Additionally, operations that exclusively print standard letter or A4 documents on plain office paper will find this specialized device oversized and underutilized for everyday standard tasks.

Key specifications

  • Maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI
  • 36-inch large format colour printing
  • 6-cartridge ink system (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Matte Black, Grey)
  • Supports PostScript 3, PDF 1.7, HP-GL/2, TIFF, JPEG, HP-RTL, and CALS G4
  • Compatible with bond, glossy, matte, photo, heavy, satin, semi-glossy, and coated papers up to A0 size
  • Mobile printing capability via HP ePrint

How to use

To begin using the HP DesignJet T1600 PS Managed Large Format Printer, ensure the device is placed on a stable surface with adequate ventilation and connected to a reliable power source. Install the six designated ink cartridges into their respective slots and load your preferred media type—such as bond, matte, or glossy paper—into the paper tray, accommodating sizes up to A0. Connect the printer to your office network or mobile device using the supported network protocols and HP ePrint technology. Send your documents through your computer or mobile interface, selecting the appropriate page description language settings like PostScript 3 or PDF 1.7 for optimal print quality. Monitor the print queue and retrieve your completed large format outputs directly from the integrated output bin.

What to consider before purchase

  • Available physical space in your office for a 36-inch large format device
  • Compatibility of your existing software workflows with PostScript 3 and HP-GL/2 languages
  • Media roll and sheet requirements for your specific technical or graphic projects
  • Network infrastructure to support shared office printing and mobile connectivity

Usage recommendations

Regularly check and replace individual ink cartridges from the 6-colour set as needed to maintain consistent print quality and prevent nozzle clogs. Use genuine HP media types suited for technical or photographic tasks to maximize the lifespan of the printheads and ensure optimal results. Keep the printer firmware updated and perform routine maintenance routines as outlined by the manufacturer.
