Description

The HP Designjet T1600dr 36-inch Thermal Inkjet Large Format Printer is a professional device engineered for high-precision technical drawings, CAD plans, and posters up to A0 size. Utilizing advanced thermal inkjet technology with a maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI and a six-color ink system, this printer delivers sharp lines, accurate colors, and detailed grayscale rendering. It features a dual-roll feed mechanism that accommodates multiple media types simultaneously, reducing the need for manual roll changes during high-volume jobs. Equipped with 128 GB of internal memory and a 500 GB hard drive, it handles complex vector files and graphics efficiently within busy professional work environments.

Advantages

This large format printer provides exceptional productivity through its fast print speeds and dual-roll setup, allowing architecture, engineering, and construction teams to meet tight deadlines effortlessly. The integration of Gigabit Ethernet connectivity ensures seamless network integration. Its six-color system, which includes photo black, matte black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and grey, guarantees superior visual accuracy across various paper types. Furthermore, the built-in automatic cutter ensures clean and precise edges for every printed document, streamlining post-print processing.

Suitable for

Printing architectural and engineering technical drawings
Producing CAD plans and schematic layouts
Creating large format promotional posters and graphics
Handling multi-page and complex PDF print jobs in professional environments

When it may not be suitable

This device is specifically optimized for large format technical and graphic documents and is not designed for everyday standard office document printing in small formats like letter or legal sizes without proper setup. Additionally, it does not include built-in scanning or copying functionalities, meaning it operates strictly as a dedicated printer.

Key specifications

Thermal inkjet print technology with a maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI
Supports maximum print sizes up to A0 (841 x 1189 mm)
Six printing colors: Photo black, Cyan, Matte Black, Magenta, Yellow, and Grey
Dual-roll media feed with automatic cutter
128 GB internal memory and 500 GB internal storage capacity
Gigabit Ethernet LAN network interface
Compatible with page description languages including HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, TIFF, JPEG, and CALS G4

How to use

To begin printing, load your preferred media rolls into the dual-roll spindles and adjust the guides securely. Connect the printer to your local network via the Gigabit Ethernet interface and configure the necessary driver settings on your workstation. Send your technical drawings or design files directly from your software using supported page description languages. Monitor the job status using the built-in display panel. Ensure that compatible ink cartridges and media types are used to maintain optimal print quality and prevent operational errors.

What to consider before purchase

Verify available physical space in your office, as this is a large-format device designed for 36-inch media
Confirm that your network infrastructure supports Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
Evaluate your media requirements to ensure compatibility with supported paper types such as bond, coated, heavy, and photo paper
Note that this model functions exclusively as a printer and does not support scanning or copying

Usage recommendations: Place the printer in a well-ventilated, stable environment away from direct sunlight and excessive dust. Regularly check and update printer firmware through official channels to maintain optimal security and device performance. Use genuine HP cartridges and recommended media types to ensure longevity of the printheads and consistent output quality.
