Network management HPE IMC Basic WLAN Manager
The HPE IMC Basic WLAN Manager is a unified network management platform that extends wired network management to include wireless LAN (WLAN) functions. It provides configuration and topology management for WLAN devices, performance monitoring, RF heat mapping, and WLAN service reporting. The software is designed for small to midsize environments, supports HP and third-party devices, and is compatible with Microsoft Windows and Linux. The package includes a fixed 50-node limit and a 50-node license for HP IMC Wireless Services Manager (WSM).
IMC Basic WLAN Manager centralizes management of wired and wireless infrastructures, reducing time required to deploy configuration changes and maintaining consistency across the network. It integrates fault management, element configuration and monitoring from a single console, supports automated discovery and baseline configuration tasks, and offers configuration comparison and change-tracking tools. The platform also delivers detailed topology and inventory views, integrated sFlow traffic analysis for identifying bottlenecks or anomalous traffic, and flexible historical reporting with export and scheduling options.
Install the IMC Basic WLAN Manager on a compatible Windows or Linux server that meets minimum hardware requirements. Add devices through the discovery function to build the inventory and topology maps, then assign device profiles and baseline configurations as needed. Use the performance monitoring and RF heat mapping tools to assess wireless coverage and device health. Configure sFlow-enabled devices to forward flow data to IMC for traffic analysis and enable report generation or scheduling to produce historical and capacity-planning reports.
Deploy IMC Basic WLAN Manager on a dedicated management server that meets or exceeds the minimum RAM, CPU, and storage specifications. Regularly update device inventory and baseline configurations, enable sFlow on supported devices for accurate traffic insights, and schedule periodic reports to monitor trends and capacity requirements.
