HPE P10440-B21 960 GB 2.5-inch SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive for Servers
The HPE P10440-B21 internal solid state drive provides 960 GB of TLC flash storage in a 2.5" Serial ATA III (6 Gbit/s) form factor designed for server and workstation use. This SSD targets data-intensive and mixed-use applications that require higher random read/write performance than standard SATA drives, offering improved IOPS, full data-path error detection, and firmware security to help protect stored data.
This HPE SSD offers a balance of performance and endurance suitable for mixed-use workloads. With sequential read speeds up to 810 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 635 MB/s, it delivers higher IOPS and throughput than typical consumer SATA drives. Built-in features include digitally signed firmware for authenticity, carrier status icons and a physical do-not-remove button to reduce human-error risks, and an SSD wear gauge for monitoring remaining lifespan.
This drive uses a SATA III interface (6 Gbit/s) and, while offering improved IOPS over some SATA options, does not provide the lower latency or higher throughput of NVMe SSDs or 12 Gbit/s SAS Value SSDs. For workloads that require the absolute highest IOPS, lowest latency, or NVMe protocol benefits, consider NVMe or higher-performance SAS alternatives.
Install the 2.5" SSD into a compatible server or workstation drive bay using the appropriate carrier or caddy. Ensure the host system supports SATA III (6 Gbit/s) operation and that firmware/BIOS is up to date. Monitor drive health and remaining lifespan with the vendor-supplied tools or the HPE SmartSSD wear gauge where available, and follow standard backup and maintenance practices to protect data.
Use this HPE 960 GB SATA III TLC SSD for consolidating transactional database workloads and accelerating read-/write-intensive mixed-use applications where a 2.5" SATA form factor and reliable firmware protections are required; for the highest-performance or lowest-latency needs, evaluate NVMe or higher-speed SAS drives.
