Description

The HP Designjet T1700dr 44-in Printer is a thermal inkjet plotter designed for professional environments that demand high-resolution output and precise color accuracy. Utilizing thermal inkjet technology, this device achieves a maximum resolution of up to 2400 x 1200 DPI, making it well-suited for detailed technical documents and graphic presentations. It features 128 GB of internal memory and 500 GB of storage, enabling efficient processing of complex files. With support for media up to 1118 x 1676 mm and various paper types including glossy, bond, photo, and matte paper, this printer adapts to diverse large-format printing requirements.

Advantages

This plotter delivers exceptional productivity through its robust hardware configuration, including ample internal storage and memory capacity for handling large design files without interruption. The thermal inkjet system ensures sharp lines and accurate color reproduction with a line accuracy of 0.1%, which is essential for professional technical drawings. Built-in Ethernet LAN connectivity allows for seamless integration into office network environments. Additionally, the device supports multiple page description languages and handles cut sheets reliably across a wide selection of paper media types.

Suitable for

Printing detailed architectural blueprints and CAD drawings
Producing GIS maps and geographical data visualizations
Creating large-format marketing materials and posters
Handling complex vector and raster graphic files in professional studios

When it may not be suitable

This device is not equipped with built-in scanning or copying functionalities, making it unsuitable for workflows that require multi-function document handling. Furthermore, it lacks Wi-Fi connectivity and a built-in display, which may limit convenience for direct standalone operation without a connected network or computer.

Key specifications

Thermal inkjet print technology
Maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI
Maximum print size of 1118 x 1676 mm
128 GB internal memory and 500 GB storage capacity
Six printing colors including cyan, magenta, matte black, photo black, yellow, and grey
Ethernet LAN and USB connectivity
Compatible with glossy, bond, photo, matte, heavy, satin, and coated paper types

How to use

Connect the printer to your office network using an Ethernet cable or directly via the USB port. Load your chosen media type, such as bond or coated paper, into the paper tray ensuring it aligns correctly with the 1118 x 1676 mm maximum dimensions. Send your print jobs from a compatible workstation using supported page description languages like HP-GL/2, TIFF, or JPEG. Monitor the print queue and manage settings through your connected computer system, replacing the six individual ink cartridges as needed when levels run low.

What to consider before purchase

Verify that your workspace has adequate physical space to accommodate a 44-inch wide-format printer
Ensure your network infrastructure supports Ethernet LAN connection if network printing is required
Confirm that your applications are compatible with the supported page description languages
Note that this unit functions strictly as a printer and does not include scanning or copying features

For optimal print quality and reliable device longevity, use recommended media types such as bond, photo, or coated paper, and ensure firmware is kept up to date while using compatible ink supplies.
