IBM HDDs are offered in multiple capacities and interfaces to suit different server and storage needs. Available form factors include 2.5-inch SAS drives (146 GB, 300 GB, 500 GB and 600 GB) in hot-swap or simple-swap versions, and 3.5-inch 7,200 rpm NL SATA (500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB, 3 TB) and NL SAS (1 TB, 2 TB, 3 TB) drives in hot-swap or simple-swap configurations. Drives are RoHS compliant and support PI (Protection Information) where applicable.
These IBM HDDs combine high-capacity storage with enterprise-class reliability. The 7,200 rpm models deliver reliable performance for SAS or SATA environments, while the 3.5-inch slim-line form factor helps maximize rack storage density. Both hot-swap and simple-swap options provide flexibility for installation and service. Built-in S.M.A.R.T. functionality enables early detection of certain drive issues so that replacements can be scheduled. A one-year warranty is included.
Select the appropriate capacity, interface and form factor for your server or enclosure. For hot-swap drives, insert or remove drives while the system is powered according to your chassis instructions; for simple-swap drives, follow the manufacturer’s guidance for powering down before exchange. Configure RAID or storage pools as required by your environment and enable monitoring utilities that read S.M.A.R.T. data to track drive health and plan replacements.
Choose 2.5-inch SAS models for higher-performance, lower-capacity applications and 3.5-inch NL SATA or NL SAS models when prioritizing large capacity. Use hot-swap versions in environments that require minimal downtime. Regularly monitor S.M.A.R.T. data and maintain backups to reduce data loss risk. Follow rack or chassis manufacturer instructions when installing or replacing drives.
