The Icy Dock ToughArmor MB833M2K-B is a front-access, tool-less removable enclosure for a single M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. Housed in a full-metal chassis with a barrel key lock, the enclosure accepts standard M.2 lengths from 2230 to 22110 and connects via a MiniSAS HD (SFF-8643) interface to provide up to 32 Gbit/s NVMe bandwidth. Each tray includes a large aluminum heatsink and thermal pads, and the enclosure features ventilation holes and an LED status indicator. Active Power Technology powers the enclosure only when a drive is present.

How to use

Place the M.2 NVMe SSD into the tray at the correct position, slide the adjustable M.2 locker to match the drive length and push down to lock the drive in place; no screws or tools are required. To remove the heatsink, press the two underside buttons on the tray to release it, then lift the heatsink off. Reattach the heatsink by aligning it over the tray and pressing down until it snaps into place. Insert the tray into the front bay and secure it using the barrel key lock if needed. Connect the MiniSAS HD (SFF-8643) cable to the host and ensure the host supports NVMe and, if hot-swap is required, NVMe hot-swap functionality.

Usage recommendations

Ensure the host system supports NVMe and NVMe hot-swap if you intend to swap drives while the system is powered on. Keep ventilation around the enclosure and maintain contact between the SSD and thermal pads for optimal cooling. Use the barrel key lock when physical security or vibration resistance is required.
