SSD enclosure Inateck FE2024 for 1x M.2 (NVMe/SATA), USB-C 3.2 Gen2, 10 Gbit/s, Black/Grey
The Inateck FE2024 is a compact external SSD enclosure designed for a single M.2 drive and compatible with both NVMe (PCIe) and SATA M.2 modules up to 4 TB. It connects via a USB Type-C port using USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s) to deliver high-speed transfers for backups, file migration and portable storage expansion. The enclosure features an aluminum-alloy housing, a thermal pad for heat dissipation and a tool-free slide-open design for quick installation.
The enclosure supports both NVMe (PCIe) and SATA M.2 SSDs and uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface to provide up to 10 Gbit/s theoretical throughput, enabling fast file transfers and responsive external storage. Built-in controller features such as UASP and TRIM support reduce CPU load, improve sustained transfer performance and help maintain SSD longevity. A slim aluminum body and included thermal pad help manage heat during heavy use, while a plug-and-play design with hot-swap capability makes it convenient across multiple systems.
This enclosure is designed specifically for single M.2 form-factor SSDs (sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280) and will not accept non-M.2 drives, mSATA modules, or other 2.5"/3.5" drives. It also does not support certain M.2 PCIe AHCI devices or non-M.2 storage formats. Performance is limited by the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface and host device capabilities; to achieve top speeds you need a host with USB 3.2 Gen 2 support and an NVMe SSD that can deliver those transfer rates.
Open the enclosure using the slide-open mechanism, place the compatible M.2 SSD (2230/2242/2260/2280) into the M-Key or B+M Key socket, secure it according to the built-in mounting points and replace the cover. Connect the enclosure to a host device using the supplied USB Type-C cable (or a compatible USB-C/USB-A adapter/cable if required). The device supports hot-swapping and requires no driver installation on most modern operating systems; initialise or format the new drive in the host OS file system utility if necessary before first use.
For best thermal performance, ensure the enclosure has some airflow and avoid prolonged full-load transfers on poorly ventilated surfaces. Use a high-quality USB-C cable rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 and connect to a matching host port to reach the highest possible transfer rates. Regularly enable TRIM support via the host OS where applicable to maintain SSD performance and longevity.
