Pool solar cover Intex 28012, round 3.48 m diameter for above-ground and inflatable pools
Intex 28012 is a round solar pool cover with a 3.48 m diameter designed for above-ground and inflatable pools. Constructed from lightweight polyethylene, this cover serves as a passive solar heater and a simple protective layer that helps retain heat and reduce water evaporation. With a compact weight of approximately 1.08 kg, the cover is easy to handle, place and remove, and is intended to extend the usable swimming season and lower water loss for small to medium backyard pools.
The Intex 28012 solar cover traps sun-warmed air and reduces heat loss from the water surface, helping to maintain a higher temperature with no power source required. Its polyethylene material is lightweight and floats on the water surface, offering a basic barrier against debris and reducing evaporation. The round 3.48 m size is suited for common above-ground and inflatable pool shapes, and the low weight makes installation and storage straightforward.
This solar cover is not a rigid safety cover and will not prevent accidental access by children or pets; it provides no structural support. It also offers limited protection against heavy debris or prolonged bad weather and is less effective at heat retention during cloudy or cold periods. Pools with diameters significantly larger than 3.48 m will not be adequately covered by this model.
Unfold the solar cover and gently lay it on the pool surface with the bubble side facing down toward the water if applicable, so the smooth side is upward. Center the cover so it evenly overlaps the pool edge where possible; trim only if necessary following the manufacturer's guidance. Use the cover mainly during daytime to capture solar energy, and remove or partially uncover it during high winds or heavy rain to prevent damage. Store dry and folded in a cool, shaded place when not in use to prolong material life.
For best results place the cover on the water surface during sunny hours to maximize passive heating and reduce evaporation; remove or secure it during strong winds or storms, and rinse and dry before prolonged storage to maintain material condition.
