The Kathrein VWS 2500 is a compact TV signal amplifier with F connectors, designed to improve and distribute terrestrial and satellite signals in multi-user installations. It operates from 230 V AC (47–63 Hz) and features a high-efficiency switched-mode power supply for low power consumption. The unit includes built-in pre-equalisation and per-amplifier attenuators to balance differing input levels and supports remote LNB feeding when systems require it.

Advantages

Adjustable attenuators in 1 dB steps allow precise level equalisation for each amplifier output. Fixed pre-equalisation is provided for the terrestrial section while satellite sections have selectable pre-equalisation (2/4/6 dB). The switched-mode power supply reduces power draw and the device supports Kathrein Power Saving (KPS), which switches off LNB supply when no receiver is active. LNB remote feeding is available on the horizontal input; other inputs remain voltage-free to allow compatibility with devices such as the UAS 585.

How to use

Install the VWS 2500 in a dry, ventilated location and connect incoming terrestrial and satellite feeds to the appropriate F inputs. Supply mains power (230 V AC) and configure per-amplifier attenuators to equalise output levels across connected receivers. Select the required satellite pre-equalisation setting (2/4/6 dB) and leave the terrestrial pre-equalisation as provided. If remote LNB feeding is required, use the horizontal input for LNB power; ensure connected receivers and any KPS-capable components are compatible.

Usage recommendations

For stable multi-room distribution, measure signal levels at end points and adjust the 1 dB attenuators to achieve uniform level across all receivers. Use the KPS feature where available to reduce LNB power consumption when receivers are idle.
