External SSD Kingston Technology 3840GB USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 IKVP80ES/3840G
Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD (IKVP80ES/3840G) is a 3.84 TB hardware-encrypted external SSD with a colour touch-screen and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity. The drive uses FIPS 197 certified XTS-AES 256-bit encryption and a Common Criteria EAL5+ certified secure microprocessor to protect sensitive data. It includes protection against Brute Force attacks and BadUSB, supports multi-password (Admin and User) operation with PIN or passphrase modes, and ships with USB Type-C to Type-A and Type-C to Type-C cables for easy connection.
The VP80ES provides strong hardware-based security with FIPS 197 XTS-AES 256-bit encryption and an EAL5+ secure microprocessor, plus protections against BadUSB and Brute Force attacks that can crypto-erase the drive after configurable failed attempts. A colour touch-screen and numeric PIN or passphrase entry simplify unlocking and administration. Configurable password rules, dual read-only (write-protect) modes, adjustable auto-timeout and a secure-erase function give administrators flexible security controls. Compact, blue housing with USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance makes the drive suitable for portable backups and secure transport of large files.
Connect the VP80ES to a compatible host using the supplied USB Type-C to Type-A or Type-C cable. On first use, set an Admin password and, optionally, enable a User password with PIN or passphrase mode. Use the colour touch-screen to enter credentials and to access the drive for drag-and-drop file transfers. Administrators can configure password rules, set the maximum number of shared attempts, enable auto-timeout and randomise the touch-screen layout. If a User password is forgotten, the Admin password can restore access.
For secure operation, enable Admin oversight, configure strong password rules (minimum length and alphanumeric options), keep a copy of critical backups off the device, and use the dual read-only mode when connecting the drive to potentially compromised systems. Regularly update internal procedures for password recovery and secure-erase when decommissioning the device.
