External SSD Kingston Technology 7680GB Portable USB Type-C IKVP80ES/7680G
The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD (IKVP80ES/7680G) is a hardware-encrypted portable SSD with a colour touch-screen and multi-password protection. Designed for secure, OS-independent use, the drive provides FIPS 197 certified XTS-AES 256-bit encryption and uses a Common Criteria EAL5+ certified secure microprocessor. It defends against BadUSB and Brute Force attacks and includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 adapter cables (Type-C to Type-A and Type-C to Type-C) for broad device compatibility. With 7,680 GB capacity and a compact housing of plastic and zinc, the drive is intended for secure transport and regular backups.
The VP80ES offers hardware-based XTS-AES 256-bit encryption and certified secure processing for verified data protection. Its built-in protections include BadUSB mitigation and configurable Brute Force defence that crypto‑erases the device after a configurable number of failed attempts. The intuitive colour touch-screen and PIN or passphrase modes simplify unlocking and management, while Admin/User multi-password support enables recovery and delegated access. Dual read-only (write-protect) settings and additional options such as auto-timeout, randomized touch layout and Secure-Erase increase operational security for field use.
Connect the Vault Privacy 80 to a host using the included USB Type-C cable (or the Type-C to Type-A adapter for legacy ports). Use the colour touch-screen to set Admin and User credentials with either a numeric PIN or a passphrase. Configure password rules and security options from the device interface: set minimum password length (6–64 characters), define alphanumeric requirements, set maximum shared attempts and enable auto-timeout or randomized touch layout. To recover access when a User password is forgotten, sign in with the Admin password. Use the Secure-Erase option when you need to wipe all passwords and encryption keys.
For routine protection, perform regular backups to the VP80ES and configure the Admin/User settings before first use. Choose a strong passphrase or PIN, enable appropriate password rules, and record recovery details securely. Use the read-only mode when connecting to untrusted systems and enable auto-timeout to reduce exposure from unattended access.
