Construction wood screw Koelner TS-4070 4x70 mm, countersunk head, TX drive
Koelner TS-4070 4x70 mm is a construction wood screw with a countersunk (conical) head and TX (Torx) drive designed for secure fastening of timber components. The screw is intended for joining wooden elements in structural and general carpentry tasks where a flush head finish and reliable torque transfer are required. Its geometry and drive type support efficient installation and reduced cam‑out during driving.
The countersunk head allows the screw to sit flush with or below the wood surface, enabling neat joints and easy subsequent finishing. TX (Torx) drive ensures improved engagement with the bit, higher torque transfer and reduced risk of stripping compared with slotted or Phillips drives. Standard length and diameter provide sufficient penetration and pull‑out resistance for common framing, decking and joinery applications.
Select an appropriate TX bit and a compatible drill or screwdriver. Pre‑drilling is recommended for hard or dense hardwoods and when working near board edges to prevent splitting. Position the screw perpendicular to the workpiece and drive it until the head is flush with or slightly below the wood surface, taking care not to over‑drive. For outdoor installations or exposed timber, use screws with suitable corrosion protection and ensure correct edge distances and spacing according to structural requirements.
For best results, match screw length to the combined thickness of the joined elements to ensure adequate thread engagement. When installing into hardwood or near edges, use a pilot hole sized to the core diameter of the screw. Use a torque‑controlled driver when working with softwoods or thin boards to avoid over‑countersinking.
