VP−550X is a professional presentation scaler and switcher that accepts HDMI, USB-C (Alt-DP), VGA and composite video inputs, scales the video up to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and outputs the processed signal to two mirrored HDMI outputs while providing a balanced stereo analog audio output. The unit supports HDCP 2.2, HDR10 and HDMI 2.0 audio/video features, and offers continuous output sync to avoid interruptions when switching inputs or when an input has no video.

Advantages

The device combines scaling and switching in a single 1U rack-mountable enclosure with non-volatile memory to retain settings after power off. It includes advanced image processing (selectable aspect ratios, built-in ProcAmp for color, hue, sharpness, noise, contrast and brightness) and Kramer’s PixPerfect™ pixel-mapping and scaling technology. Audio handling is flexible: embedded digital audio can be used or analog audio inputs embedded into the video, a de-embedded balanced stereo output is provided, and a microphone input with optional 48V phantom power is available. Control options include front-panel buttons, IR remote, RS-232 and Ethernet with embedded web pages for remote management.

How to use

Connect source devices to the appropriate inputs (HDMI, USB-C, VGA or composite). If required, connect analog audio to the companion audio inputs to embed analog channels or use the embedded digital audio from HDMI/USB-C. Use the front-panel controls, IR remote, RS-232 or the web interface over Ethernet to select inputs, adjust scaling, choose aspect ratio and fine-tune ProcAmp settings. Configure audio routing to embed or de-embed audio and adjust DSP parameters including equalization, mixing and delay. Mount the unit in a standard 19" rack using the supplied ears and connect the universal AC power.

Usage recommendations

For reliable operation, keep firmware up to date and use high-quality HDMI/USB-C cables rated for the intended resolutions. When using analog microphone sources that require phantom power, enable the 48V option only for compatible condenser microphones.
