U-lock Kryptonite Evolution Standard U-lock SSF 10.2 x 22.9 cm for bicycle security

The Kryptonite Evolution Standard U-lock SSF 10.2 x 22.9 cm for bicycle security is a U-shaped lock designed to secure bicycle frames and wheels to fixed objects. With an internal span of 10.2 x 22.9 cm, the lock provides a compact, rigid securing point suited to urban parking environments, bike racks and stands. The construction uses a hardened shackle and a keyed SSF locking cylinder that together deliver basic to moderate resistance against cutting and leverage attempts for everyday outdoor use.

Advantages

The lock combines a hardened steel shackle and a tested keyed locking mechanism to balance durability and user convenience. Its compact internal dimensions make it practical for locking frames close to poles and racks while minimizing exposed shackle length. The keyed SSF cylinder offers consistent operation and straightforward key access without electronic components or batteries.

Suitable for

• Daily urban commuting and short-term bicycle parking
• Securing frames and one wheel to bike racks or fixed posts
• Use at public stands, transit hubs, and workplaces for medium-risk areas

Key specifications

• Internal dimensions: 10.2 x 22.9 cm
• Lock type: U-shaped shackle lock
• Shackle material: hardened steel construction
• Lock mechanism: keyed SSF cylinder
• Intended use: outdoor bicycle security for frames and wheels

How to use

Position the U-lock so the shackle passes through the bicycle frame and, where possible, through a wheel and around a fixed, immovable object such as a rack or post. Insert the shackle ends into the lock body and turn the key to engage the cylinder until it locks. Remove the key and, when transporting the lock, secure it to your frame or carry it in a bag. When unlocking, insert the correct key and rotate to release the shackle; avoid forcing the mechanism if it resists.

Usage recommendations

For best security, choose a fixed object that cannot be lifted or removed, orient the lock so the shackle faces down or tight to the ground to make leverage attacks harder, and combine the U-lock with an auxiliary cable or chain to secure the second wheel. Regularly lubricate the keyway with a lock-appropriate lubricant and inspect the shackle and cylinder for damage.
