The Lancom Systems WLC-2000 is a rack-mountable wireless LAN controller in a 19U metal enclosure with internal antennas. It centrally manages Wi‑Fi in the 2.4–5 GHz bands and provides gigabit Ethernet connectivity for enterprise networks. Designed to operate as a central controller for 25 to 2,000 access points, the WLC-2000 supports centralized firmware rollout, monitoring and configuration management, zero-touch deployment of new access points, and integrated hotspot functionality via the Public Spot XL option.

How to use

Install the WLC-2000 in a standard 19U rack and connect the gigabit Ethernet uplinks to the network core. Use the controller management interface to import or create configurations, define WLANs, security policies and VLAN mappings, and enable Public Spot XL if guest access is required. New access points added to the network will be discovered and provisioned automatically via zero-touch deployment once they are authenticated. Monitor device status, firmware versions and client statistics centrally from the management console and apply firmware rollouts to managed APs as needed.

Usage recommendations

Place the controller in a secure equipment room with stable power and network connectivity; configure VLANs and RADIUS authentication before onboarding large numbers of access points to streamline deployment. For critical operations, enable High Availability Clustering and keep firmware up to date to benefit from security patches and feature updates.
