Lapp Skintop DIX Sealing Insert for Cable Glands, PG16, 3 x 6mm Holes, IP54
The Lapp Skintop DIX sealing insert is a specialized component engineered for integration with PG16 cable glands. This high-quality insert allows for the organized routing of multiple cables through a single entry point while maintaining a secure seal. Designed with three individual holes, each measuring 6mm in diameter, it provides an effective barrier against environmental factors, ensuring an IP54 protection rating against dust and water spray. This solution is essential for industrial electrical installations where cable management and environmental integrity are required.
The primary benefit of the Skintop DIX insert is its ability to streamline cable entry by allowing multiple cables to pass through one gland, which significantly reduces the space required on the enclosure wall. Its robust construction ensures a reliable seal that protects sensitive internal components from dust and splashing water. By utilizing this insert, installers can achieve a cleaner, more organized wiring layout, which simplifies maintenance and enhances the overall durability of the electrical system in demanding industrial environments.
This sealing insert is not intended for use in high-pressure washdown environments or areas requiring full submersion, as it is rated for IP54 protection. Additionally, it is specifically designed for cables with a diameter of 6mm; it will not provide an adequate seal for cables that are significantly smaller or larger than this specified size.
To install the Lapp Skintop DIX insert, first ensure that the cable gland is properly mounted to the enclosure. Remove the standard sealing ring from the PG16 gland and replace it with the DIX insert. Carefully feed the three cables through the designated 6mm holes. Once the cables are positioned, tighten the gland nut according to the manufacturer's torque specifications to compress the insert around the cables, thereby creating the required seal.
For optimal performance and to maintain the IP54 rating, ensure that the cables are inserted straight and are not under excessive tension. Avoid using cables with damaged outer jackets, as this may compromise the seal integrity.
