The Lenovo M.2 2242 PCIe G4 x4 512GB SSD is an internal solid-state drive designed for compact systems that accept the M.2 2242 form factor and support PCIe Gen4 x4. With 512GB usable capacity and a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface, this drive is intended to accelerate system boot times, application launches and file transfers compared to older SATA-based storage. Its short 2242 length makes it suitable for thin laptops, mini‑PCs and embedded platforms where space is limited.
This M.2 2242 SSD provides higher sequential and random throughput thanks to the PCIe Gen4 x4 connection, enabling faster data access and reduced latency. Its compact size allows installation in devices with restricted internal space while offering a mid-range capacity of 512GB for a balance between storage and cost. Being an internal SSD, it operates silently and with lower mechanical risk than spinning media.
This drive is not suitable for systems that lack an M.2 2242 slot or only support longer M.2 modules (e.g., 2280) unless an adapter is used. Devices that do not support PCIe Gen4 x4 will still work with the drive in many cases, but performance will be limited to the host controller’s capabilities. If extremely high endurance or multi-terabyte capacity is required, consider higher-capacity or purpose-built enterprise SSDs.
