Manfrotto release lock for quick-release plate 357/577 (R357,08)

The Manfrotto release lock for quick-release plate 357/577 is an accessory designed to secure the sliding action of compatible quick-release plates. It prevents unintended detachment of the plate from the head and increases the mounting stability of cameras and accessories when using heads that accept 357 and 577 type plates. The component is intended for use in both studio and field photography where reliable plate retention is required.

Advantages

This release lock minimizes the risk of accidental release by locking the sliding mechanism firmly in place, improving safety when changing lenses or repositioning the camera. Its compact design integrates with existing compatible heads and plates without adding significant bulk, and it provides a predictable mechanical interface that maintains plate alignment and stability during use.

Suitable for

• Photographers using Manfrotto heads and quick-release plates compatible with the 357/577 system
• Studio setups that require secure, repeatable plate mounting
• On-location and travel photography where accidental plate release must be avoided

Key specifications

• Function: mechanical release lock for sliding quick-release plates
• Compatibility: designed for use with quick-release plate systems of the 357 and 577 type

How to use

Install the release lock into the designated slot or mounting point on the compatible head or quick-release assembly according to the head manufacturer’s instructions. After fitting, confirm the lock engages the plate sliding mechanism and that the plate cannot move freely when the lock is engaged. Before mounting a camera, test the action by attaching the plate and switching the lock between locked and unlocked positions to ensure reliable operation and correct alignment.

Usage recommendations

Regularly check the lock for secure engagement and inspect for wear or debris that could impair its function. Use the lock as part of a routine workflow: engage when the camera is mounted and during lens changes or transport, and disengage only when deliberate plate removal is required. Follow the head and plate manufacturer's maintenance guidance to preserve smooth operation.
