Card reader MANHATTAN 172844 USB 1.1 white with 1.2 m cable, 115 g
The MANHATTAN 172844 USB 1.1 card reader is an external, wired reader designed for desktop and notebook computers that lack built-in smart card slots. It connects via a USB 1.1 interface, comes in white with a 1.2 m cable and weighs 115 g. The reader supports contact (friction-type) smart cards to authenticate users and securely transfer data between the card and host computer, making it suitable for secure access control, financial and enterprise applications that require strong, tamper-resistant authentication.
The reader offers plug-and-play installation with included driver/software CD and requires no external power supply. It supports host communication speeds up to 12 Mbps and features a dual-color LED indicator (red/green) for power and activity status. Its USB 1.1 wired connection and compact, lightweight design make it easy to deploy on desktops or with mobile workstations.
Connect the MANHATTAN 172844 reader to any available USB port on a desktop or notebook computer. Install the included software and drivers from the supplied CD if your operating system does not automatically recognise the device. Insert a compatible contact smart card into the reader’s contact area; the reader will authenticate the card and enable secure data exchange with the host application. No external power source is required.
Use the reader in a dry, indoor environment and avoid exposing the contact pads to dust or moisture. Keep the supplied cable untwisted and avoid excessive bending near the connector to maintain reliable USB connectivity and extend the device’s service life.
