Power adapter/inverter MEAN WELL RSDW08F-03, 8 W output, 2 A
MEAN WELL RSDW08F-03 is an 8 W DC-DC railway single output converter designed to deliver a regulated 3.3 VDC output at up to 2 A from a 9–36 VDC input range. Packaged in a DIP through-hole form factor with 1.5 kVDC input-to-output isolation and a remote ON/OFF function, this module is intended for compact, low-power electronic equipment that requires reliable voltage conversion and galvanic isolation. The design meets RoHS sustainability requirements and is suitable for applications where space, safety and stability are important.
The converter combines a wide input range with a stable low-voltage output, providing consistent performance across varying supply voltages. Its 1.5 kVDC input-to-output isolation enhances safety in systems with different grounding domains or where protection against transients is required. The DIP through-hole package simplifies PCB mounting and mechanical fixation in compact assemblies. The remote ON/OFF feature allows convenient system-level control and power sequencing without additional circuitry.
Connect the converter input to a stable 9–36 VDC source observing correct polarity and grounding practices. Mount the DIP through-hole package into the PCB and solder all pins according to the manufacturer’s footprint to ensure mechanical and electrical reliability. Use the remote ON/OFF pin to enable or disable the output as required by system sequencing; when unused, follow the recommended default pin state from the module documentation. Verify output voltage under load and confirm adequate cooling and clearance around the module to maintain temperature within rated limits.
Place decoupling capacitors close to the load and input source to reduce noise and improve transient response. Ensure the module’s isolation rating is appropriate for the system environment and provide additional surge protection if the installation is exposed to heavy transients. For reliable long-term operation, avoid operating continuously at peak current and allow airflow or heatsinking if the PCB area is densely populated.
