Micron 5300 PRO 240 GB is a 2.5" SATA III SSD designed for servers and workstations that require reliable read-intensive and mixed-use storage. Built on Micron's 96-layer 3D TLC NAND, this drive provides consistent performance, enterprise-grade data protection options, and higher endurance compared with older planar NAND devices. The 240 GB capacity and SATA interface make it suitable for boot volumes, cache, and capacity-optimized storage tiers in data centers and PCs.
The Micron 5300 PRO offers a balance of performance and security through sustained sequential read speeds up to 540 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 310 MB/s over a 6 Gbit/s SATA interface. It includes power-loss protection and enterprise data path protection and supports optional encryption standards for safeguarding sensitive data. Its 96-layer 3D TLC NAND provides improved density and endurance for heavier read workloads compared with previous-generation SATA SSDs.
This SATA SSD is not ideal for workloads that demand the highest write-intensive endurance or the lowest latency available from NVMe drives. If your applications require maximal random I/O performance or extremely high sustained write throughput, consider enterprise NVMe solutions instead.
Install the 2.5" SSD into a compatible SATA bay or adapter and connect it to a SATA III port and power connector. Initialize and format the drive from your operating system or server management tools, then migrate your operating system or data using standard cloning or backup utilities. Ensure firmware is up to date and enable supported encryption or power-loss protection features in the host system if required.
