Barcode Scanner Newland EX232 Remora – handheld corded scanner, model NLS-EX-232-01
EX232 Remora is a Serial Port to Ethernet module with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support that converts serial communication to network data. It provides a single Ethernet port and multiple serial interfaces in a compact module compatible with devices using RS232, RS485 and RS422. The module follows the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard, enabling powered network connection without separate power supply. It is suitable for integrating equipment models identified as HR, FM, FR and NVH when configured for RS232.
The EX232 Remora consolidates different serial interfaces into one network-enabled device, simplifying remote access and device management. PoE compatibility reduces cabling by supplying power through the Ethernet connection. Support for RS232, RS485 and RS422 allows flexible integration with a wide range of industrial and laboratory equipment. The compact design facilitates installation in constrained spaces.
Connect the serial device to the appropriate serial port (RS232 9‑pin for supported models or RS485/RS422 as required), and connect the Ethernet cable to the module’s network port. If using PoE, plug the Ethernet cable into a PoE-capable switch or injector to provide power and network connectivity simultaneously. Configure serial parameters and network settings according to the connected equipment and network environment to enable communication over Ethernet.
Verify the serial configuration (voltage levels, pinout and communication parameters) of HR, FM, FR or NVH devices before connecting. Use a PoE switch or injector compliant with IEEE 802.3af. For stable operation in industrial settings, ensure proper grounding and follow manufacturer guidelines for cable lengths and environmental conditions.
