Open-face climbing helmet Petzl Borea Lilac White, hybrid shell construction
Petzl Borea Lilac White is an open-face climbing helmet with a hybrid shell construction combining a robust ABS outer shell and dual-density foam liner. It is designed for mountaineering, rock climbing and alpine approaches, offering expanded rear coverage and integrated ventilation for sustained use on multi-pitch routes and extended alpine days.
The hybrid design pairs a hard, impact- and scratch-resistant outer shell with an inner combination of EPP and EPS foam to absorb energy from impacts. The headband folds into the shell for compact storage, and the helmet is lightweight at approximately 305 g. Ventilation holes and internal foam channels improve air circulation, while the semi-rigid OMEGA headband and adjustable lateral webbing provide a secure, comfortable fit for users with long hair.
This helmet is not intended for activities requiring full-face protection or for industrial safety applications governed by specific work-safety standards. It is optimized for sports use and impact protection typical of climbing and alpine environments rather than for high-velocity ballistic or heavy machinery hazards.
Place the helmet on the head so that the front rim sits just above the eyebrows and the expanded rear covers the back of the head. Adjust the OMEGA headband and lateral webbing until the helmet is stable and comfortable, using the notch if wearing a ponytail. Fasten and tighten the chinstrap so it sits snugly under the chin without restricting movement. Attach a headlamp using the two front clips and rear elastic band when required. After use, fold the headband into the shell for storage and inspect the shell and foam liner for damage before each outing.
Use the Petzl Borea for recreational and technical climbing, mountaineering, caving, via ferrata and canyoning where an open-face helmet is appropriate. Regularly inspect for cracks, deep dents, or compressed foam and replace the helmet after any significant impact or when wear compromises protection.
