Icy Dock MB994SP-4S 4-Bay 2.5-inch SATA/SAS HDD/SSD Mobile Rack
The Icy Dock MB994SP-4S is a high-density mobile rack designed to house four 2.5-inch SATA or SAS hard drives or SSDs within a single 5.25-inch drive bay. Engineered for durability, this enclosure is constructed from robust SECC steel, ensuring it can withstand demanding environments. It features an integrated dual 40mm cooling fan system and extensive ventilation to maintain optimal operating temperatures for high-performance drives.
This mobile rack offers exceptional space efficiency by allowing users to consolidate four drives into a single standard 5.25-inch bay, which is ideal for compact system builds. The full metal construction provides superior protection and heat dissipation compared to plastic alternatives. With its hot-swap capability and EZ Slide Mini Trays, drive maintenance and upgrades are performed quickly without requiring system downtime. The inclusion of status LEDs for each drive ensures constant monitoring of storage activity, while the universal tray design supports drives with heights up to 15mm.
This device is not suitable for computer cases that lack an available 5.25-inch external drive bay. It is also not designed for use with 3.5-inch hard drives, as the internal dimensions are strictly limited to 2.5-inch form factor storage media.
To install the device, slide the unit into an empty 5.25-inch bay of your computer case and secure it with screws. Connect the necessary power cables to the dual 4-pin power inputs and attach your SATA or SAS data cables to the rear connectors. To insert a drive, place your 2.5-inch HDD or SSD into the EZ Slide Mini Tray, secure it, and slide the tray into the rack until it clicks into place. The drive will be automatically detected by the system, allowing for immediate use or hot-swapping as needed.
For optimal performance and longevity, ensure that the ventilation slots on the front and rear of the unit remain unobstructed. Regularly check the status LEDs to monitor drive health and ensure the cooling fans are operating correctly in high-load environments.
