Eyepiece Skywatcher SWA-58 15 mm 1.25" wide-field
Eyepiece Skywatcher SWA-58 15 mm 1.25" wide-field
The Skywatcher SWA-58 15 mm eyepiece is a 1.25" wide-field ocular designed for visual astronomy. With a 15 mm focal length it delivers medium-power views that balance magnification and field of view, making it suitable for detailed observation of the Moon and planets as well as framed views of brighter deep-sky objects. The eyepiece fits standard 1.25" focusers and is intended to provide a wider apparent field and comfortable eye relief for extended observing sessions.
The wide-field optical design offers an expanded apparent field of view compared with standard eyepieces, improving target framing and the sense of immersion when observing extended objects. The 15 mm focal length supplies moderate magnification, useful for resolving planetary details while still allowing enough field to view nearby context. Compatibility with standard 1.25" focusers ensures broad telescope compatibility and easy swap-in installation. The eyepiece construction focuses on delivering a clear image and comfortable viewing without requiring specialized adapters.
Insert the 1.25" barrel into the telescope focuser or diagonal and secure it with the focuser thumbscrew. Start with the eyepiece at a comfortable focus position and refine focus using the telescope's focuser control until the image is sharp. For planetary and lunar observing, use steady seeing conditions to increase detail; for deep-sky objects, allow your eyes to adapt to darkness to take advantage of the wider apparent field. Swap between eyepieces as needed to change magnification, always re-focusing after each change.
Use a suitable star diagonal for refractors and some reflectors to achieve a comfortable viewing angle. Store the eyepiece in a padded case or clean cloth when not in use to protect the optics. Clean lenses only with appropriate optical cleaning materials and avoid touching optical surfaces directly.
