Backpack Osprey Aether 55 — 55 L, Nylon, Black, 2.2 kg, 380 mm width (men)
The Osprey Aether 55 is a 55‑litre technical backpack designed for multi‑day hiking and travel. Constructed from durable bluesign‑approved nylon with a PFC‑free DWR finish, it pairs a moulded AirScape backpanel and adjustable torso with Fit‑on‑the‑Fly shoulder straps and hipbelt to deliver a close, customizable carry. The pack includes an integrated and detachable raincover and external access for hydration systems.
The Aether 55 offers a near‑body, stable carry thanks to its injection‑moulded AirScape backpanel and foam ridges, which improve breathability and comfort. Its Fit‑on‑the‑Fly adjustable hipbelt, shoulder straps and torso let you fine‑tune fit across a range of body shapes. A practical layout with a U‑zip front opening, sleeping bag base compartment, twin external zip pockets and removable sleeping pad straps makes loading and organization straightforward. Materials are sustainably chosen: bluesign‑approved nylon and a PFC‑free durable water repellent.
Because this pack is optimized for a structured, stable carry and includes many features for multi‑day use, it may be more than necessary for short day hikes or minimalist ultralight trips. At around 2.2 kg empty weight, it is heavier than minimalist daypacks and ultralight packs.
Adjust the torso length first to match your torso measurement, then set the Fit‑on‑the‑Fly hipbelt and shoulder straps for a snug, comfortable fit. Load heavier items close to the back and use the internal divider to separate a sleeping bag from the main compartment. Use the front U‑zip for quick access when packed like a suitcase and the top lid pockets for small items. Attach a hydration reservoir to the internal sleeve and route the hose through the external access. Use compression straps and hipbelt pockets to stabilize and access essentials on the trail.
For best comfort on multi‑day trips, set the hipbelt firmly on your hips, keep heavy items close to the spine, and use the AirScape backpanel to maintain ventilation. Pack the sleeping bag in the dedicated base compartment and secure the removable pad straps for external foam pads.
